Graphic Sources~Help Us to Research

Excellent work!

Completed work!

Victor presenting to the class!

Over the last two weeks we have been learning about:
  • Text Features-parts of a text that help us to understand the information better
  • Graphic Sources-maps, diagrams, charts, tables, graphs, time lines, etc. that help us learn more about a topic that we are reading about
To bring these two ideas together and make them the most meaningful, after reading Dinosaur Ghosts: The Mystery of Coelophysis, students had to select a dinosaur research packet, find similarities and differences between the two dinosaurs using a Venn Diagram, construct written paragraphs, (a similarities paragraph and a differences paragraph), publish their work, and finally include maps, diagrams, and illustrations(grpahic sources) to create and enhance their final presentation.  Students then shared their findings with their peers.  I am so proud of their hard work!  Please stop by our 6th grade hallway in the next few days to see their impressive work!

Happy New Year!

The 6th graders have had an especially hardworking week.  It certainly isn't easy jumping right back into the swing of things after a pretty substantial break.  Below is an update of all of our learning for the week!  Check it out!

On February 8th we will be headed to the University of Dayton for their Student Day!  We can't wait for this exciting learning opportunity!  What a unique experience to head to a college campus for the day as a 6th grader!
